The gigantic leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were caused by acts of sabotage – the secret services of the countries bordering the Baltic Sea are now certain of that. In the West it is said that all signs point to Russia. Moscow, in turn, accuses the United States of being the perpetrator. The former chief manager of the Ukrainian energy supplier Naftogaz, Andriy Kobolev, who headed the state-owned company from 2014 to 2021, is considered an expert on the Eastern European energy market. Since leaving Naftogaz, he has been running a company that invests in sustainable energies. Kobolyev lists several reasons why the Kremlin should have a great deal of self-interest in destroying the pipelines.
