The Republican deputy Eric Ciotti announced that he would vote for the candidate of LR Renaud Muselier en Paca in the second round of the regional, after having voted white in the first. A “disappointing choice of [sa] share ”, reacted Marine Le Pen on RTL this Thursday.
The outgoing president of the Paca region would win by a very short lead, according to a survey, the duel that opposes him to the candidate of the National Rally (and ex-LR) Thierry Mariani, the only candidate of the RN to have reached the head of a region.
“LR has lost all ideological backbone”
“I have the impression that LR has lost all ideological backbone, added the president of the RN and candidate for the Elysee. We see [Valérie] Pécresse explain to us that she is facing the most terrible left […] and it is this same left that Renaud Muselier welcomes with open arms in Paca, explaining that it is wonderful ”. The left list led by Jean-Laurent Félizia withdrew from the Paca race. The ecologist called to “beat Thierry Mariani and his sad cohort”.
Before the first round, the LR federation of the Alpes-Maritimes, led by Eric Ciotti, had withdrawn its support for Renaud Muselier’s list due to the presence on it of candidates from the presidential majority. This rapprochement with LREM had caused a crisis at Les Républicains and the deputy, chairman of the LR nomination committee, had requested the withdrawal of his party’s support for the outgoing president of Paca.
The call of the RN’s foot
Marine Le Pen had called before the first round the executives and the LR voters to “draw the consequences” of the divisions of their party and to “support” the RN. At the end of May already, she had launched an appeal to “sincere personalities of the right like [les élus LR] Eric Ciotti and Nadine Morano ”to join her, in an email to her supporters.
This Thursday morning, on France Bleu azur, Christian Estrosi described his former collaborator Eric Ciotti as “Lepéno-compatible”. Recalling the “white line” fixed by Jacques Chirac, the mayor of Nice hammered: “We do not come to terms with the extremists”.
