Another streaming service is launched with Discovery+. Everything you need to know about starting in Germany.

In Germany and Austria, another streaming provider is starting today, Tuesday, with Discovery+. The global market leader in non-fictional content has big plans for the market launch and is coming up with plenty of content. What viewers can expect from the streaming newcomer and what highlights are in the program at the start.

Discovery+ will be available in two variants from the start on June 28: the streaming service with advertising costs EUR 3.99 per month, the ad-free offer EUR 5.99. Both versions can also be booked as annual subscriptions, which cost EUR 39.99 and EUR 59.99 respectively. In return, subscribers get exclusive content from the areas of lifestyle, living and eating, true crime, paranormal, adventure, science, technology or the environment and live sports. The provider himself speaks of “thousands of hours” of content that he delivers at the start. The package also includes linear TV channels: DMAX, TLC, Home & Garden TV and Tele 5 are also part of a subscription, as are Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2.

Katzenberger @Work – liquid manure instead of glamour

TV blonde Daniela Katzenberger lives in Mallorca and enjoys la Dolce Vita there – actually. For the reality format “Katzenberger @Work – Gülle statt Glamor” the cat goes to her Palatinate homeland and runs a farm there. “It was really the experience of my life, I’ve rarely sweated and smelled so badly,” the 35-year-old summarizes the experience herself. The season consists of six episodes, four of which will be available at the launch of Discovery+. Episodes five and six will be released on Tuesdays for the next two weeks.

Love In The Jungle

Should humans learn more courtship and mating rituals from wildlife? The show “Love In The Jungle” tries it out and sends 14 singles into a kind of dating jungle camp. The participants are not allowed to speak to each other, but must instead use animal communication to develop a romantic relationship with each other. An episode of the format described by Discovery+ as a “social experiment” lasts around three quarters of an hour and is humorously accompanied by a classic animal documentary voice.

Sports

The sports channel Eurosport has been part of Discovery since 2014, so a cooperation with the parent company is an obvious choice. Cycling fans can therefore not only follow the Tour de France from July 1st or the Vuelta de España from August 19th on Discovery+, but also, for example, the US Open from August 29th. With the exception of Wimbledon, Eurosport shows three of the four Grand Slams in tennis, plus lots of winter sports, the Olympic Games, motor sports, and, and, and.

Document Formats

Discovery+ boasts several documentaries on a wide variety of topics. From the controversial relationship between Prince Andrew (62) and Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019) in “Prince Andrew and the Epstein Scandal” to the processing of the murder of fashion czar Maurizio Gucci (1948-1995) in “Lady Gucci: The Black Widow” to dealing with the drug-laden past with Lori Arnold in “Queen of Meth”. Contemporary witnesses and those involved speak in the documentation about what they experienced and give insights into the past.
