The climate activists of the Last Generation group once again made sure that the media was effective in the middle of Berlin. The victim was the Christmas tree in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
Members of the Last Generation group sawed off the top of the Christmas tree in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. On Wednesday morning, two climate activists rolled out a banner reading “This is just the tip of the Christmas tree” on Pariser Platz in Berlin-Mitte on a lifting platform, according to a police spokeswoman and photos of the action. Then they drove up to the top of the 15 meter high Nordmann fir with the lifting platform.
The young women cut off the top of the tree there with a handsaw, as the last generation itself said. “So far in Germany we have only seen the tip of the underlying catastrophe,” an activist explained the protest action.
The police were on site during the action. Why she didn’t prevent them is unclear. Measures are now being taken, said the police spokeswoman, without giving any further details.
