Landshut wedding: Unknown pours liquid over Claudia Roth – Bavaria

A woman poured an unknown liquid over the head of Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth at the medieval historical spectacle of Landshut Wedding 1475. The Green politician was not injured, the police are now investigating, according to information from Monday, because of insults. The perpetrator disappeared unrecognized in the crowd after the attack on Sunday afternoon.

The background to the incident was initially unknown. Investigators are currently evaluating testimonies. It was initially unclear with which liquid Ms. Roth poured over the grandstand in Landshut’s old town. A police spokesman said it might have been water. Roth left the event relatively quickly after the incident.

The 68-year-old was one of the guests of honor at the festival, which was followed by tens of thousands of visitors, along with Ilse Aigner (CSU), President of the Bavarian State Parliament (CSU) and Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm. The medieval historical spectacle recreates the marriage of the Polish Princess Hedwig with Duke Georg the Rich of Bavaria-Landshut. In 2018, the Landshut Wedding of 1475 was included in the nationwide register of intangible Unesco cultural heritage.
