In June 2023 there will be a pompous wedding again – in the historical drama “Landshut Wedding 1475”. After the last season of 2021 was canceled due to the corona pandemic, the organizers are now ringing in the coming season. It starts with the search for the contributors. The application phase runs from April 4th to May 1st inclusive, as the association Die Förderer announced. After four decades, the 2023 festival is to be staged in a new version for the first time. “There are a lot of new and exciting roles,” announced author and historian Benedikt Schramm. For example, actors who speak Polish are particularly sought after. In the history play, the marriage of Duke George the Rich of Bavaria-Landshut to Hedwig of Poland in 1475 is recreated with more than 2400 actors. The festival season lasts three weeks and consists of various events. Director Stefan Tilch had already said last autumn: “The play is a big hit. Benedikt Schramm has managed in a fascinating way to create a new genre that is very touching and sweeping in terms of content.” Now the organizers are looking for actors who will take part in the new play – and they have to come from the city and district of Landshut and, above all, should bring an identification with the festival. You can apply using a form on the association’s website. Candidates will receive an invitation to an interview. The hot trial phase is said to begin at the end of April 2023. The “Landshut Wedding 1475” was included in the nationwide list of intangible UNESCO cultural heritage in 2018.
