Superstar surprises with Oscar transformation

Strong contrasts: Superstar Lady Gaga surprised viewers and fans at the 95th Oscars with an extremely reduced stage look.
After initially not performing at all, it was only announced a few hours before the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles that superstar Lady Gaga (36) would perform her nominated song “Hold My Hand” from the blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick”. The second surprise of the night was Gaga’s look on stage at the Academy Awards. After the usual glamorous appearance on the Oscars carpet, which for the first time was no longer red but champagne-colored, the artist appeared on the stage of the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles in a way she had never seen before on TV.
Jeans, t-shirt, no discernible makeup
On the emotional performance of her Oscar-nominated song “Hold My Hand” Gaga wore just a simple black t-shirt, jeans and sneakers, and no discernible makeup. The singer had previously presented herself in a black, transparent evening dress by Versace in front of the Dolby Theater. Supermodel Gigi Hadid (27) wore the dress just a few days earlier on the catwalk during a show by the Milan fashion house.

Even before the ceremony, the singer caused a stir, as she rushed to the aid of a photographer who had fallen on the champagne-colored carpet. Before her acclaimed stage performance, Gaga addressed a few words to the audience. She revealed that “Hold My Hand” is a “deeply personal” song for her because everyone needs heroes from time to time. “You may find that you can be your own hero even if you feel broken inside” Lady Gaga concluded her moving introduction.
The audience at the Oscars gave a standing ovation to the performance dedicated to the late Top Gun director Tony Scott (1944-2012). However, the “Oscar for Best Song” went to “Naatu Naatu” from the Indian mega-hit “RRR”. Lady Gaga, nominated for the third time, had already taken home a golden boy in 2019 for her song “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born”.
