A 50-year-old pretended to be a successful actor and cheated several people out of a lot of money. Accordingly, the suspect from the Kulmbach district claimed to be planning a new film project, as the police announced on Tuesday. He promised his investors a high return after the film was released and invited them to the premiere. With this story, the 50-year-old received tens of thousands of euros.
When the alleged fraud came to light, the man fled abroad. At the request of the Bayreuth public prosecutor’s office, a European arrest warrant was issued. The 50-year-old was finally arrested in Budapest at the beginning of March. The Hungarian authorities then extradited the man to Germany. In mid-March, a judge issued an arrest warrant for the suspect.
