Kranjska Gora: Alexander Schmid falls off the podium in the giant slalom final – Henrik Kristoffersen wins

Already on Saturday Henrik Kristoffersen won at Podkoren. The Norwegian has now won four of his five races after the Olympic Games.

Overall World Cup leader Marco Odermatt finished third this time one day after his second place. After the first run, the Swiss was still in the lead.

Alexander Schmid, who finished 14th in the first “giants” on Saturday, finished third on the podium in December this winter in Alta Badia. Anton Grammel and Fabian Gratz finished 26th and 28th in the points, Julian Rauchfuss missed the second round as 34th.

Schmid, team runner-up at the Olympics, improved after 14th place on Saturday in Slovenia, especially in the first run. It was “madness”. Second place behind the designated overall World Cup champion and Olympic champion Marco Odermatt (Switzerland): “I would never have thought of that,” said Schmid – and was therefore “overjoyed”.

Schmid has one last chance for another podium finish in the giant slalom at the season finale in Meribel and Courchevel/France next Saturday.
