The actor Dieter Schaad, known from numerous film and television productions, is dead. He died “suddenly and unexpectedly” last Saturday at the age of 96 in his hometown of Wiesbaden, according to his agency “60pus”. She relies on information provided by the widow, Dagmar Hessenland-Schaad.

According to the agency, Schaad was in front of the camera until a few weeks before his death. Most recently, in December, he wrote the “Tatort” crime thriller “The Other Last” for the WDR turned. “We mourn the loss of a great actor and a warm-hearted person who was interested and committed into old age,” the agency said.

“Lindenstraße” and “A case for two”

The actor had appeared in more than 120 film and television productions over the past decades. He played in “Lindenstraße” and in “Ein Fall für Zwei”, had a role in “Die Drombuschs”, in “Soko 5113”, “Soko Köln” and “Soko Leipzig”.

In old age, Schaad celebrated success with the series “Red Ribbon Club”, which started in 2015. This received, among other things, the German Television Award.

Schaad was born on April 2, 1926 in Wiesbaden and attended drama school there from 1945 to 1947. At the theater he had engagements in Worms, Bielefeld, Krefeld, Cologne, Darmstadt and Wiesbaden, among others.
