Knife stabber from Würzburg is said to be permanently in psychiatry – Bavaria

The Munich public prosecutor’s office wants the knife man from Würzburg to be permanently housed in a psychiatric ward. The application for a corresponding security procedure had been submitted to the district court of Würzburg, said a court spokesman on Tuesday. The perpetrator’s defense attorney also said he had received the application. According to him, it is a single act by a seriously ill person and not terrorism.

According to earlier information from the prosecution, two independent experts had come to the conclusion that the presumably 32-year-old Somali was not guilty of the knife attack last June.

It has been proven that the migrant stabbed apparently unknown people in the city. Three women died and five people were critically injured. There were also four minor injuries. The suspect has been in a psychiatric hospital for months.

The purpose of the security procedure is to ensure that the accused remains in a psychiatric facility. Even if there is no charge as in a normal criminal case, such a case is tried in court. What exactly drove the Somali to the attack is still unclear. Now the district court has to decide whether to open security proceedings.
