Knife found in Berninger case – Bavaria

A knife was found at the scene of the crime during the investigation into the unsolved murder of Klaus Berninger. Now the forensics are in demand, because it is still unclear whether the knife can actually be used as a murder weapon. As the police announced on Friday, the knife was discovered on Tuesday evening when searching the crime scene in Wörth am Main (Miltenberg district) using a metal detector. At the end of 1990, the young man Klaus Berninger was killed. The police had recently begun to reopen the unsolved case, a so-called cold case. According to previous knowledge, the young man died as a result of violence with a sharp-edged tool against his neck. According to the police, 80 tips have now been received from the population, which are now being checked. The State Criminal Police Office has offered a $10,000 reward for information.
