KJR München-Land: Political education and mental health – district of Munich

After the election of Pia Huber from the Evangelische Jugend München, the nine-member board of the Kreisjugendring (KJR) München-Land is complete again and looks to the future with hope. New projects are being planned for the coming year, including campaigns for the state elections next year as part of the youth policy campaign “Voice of Youth”. The main topic at the autumn plenary meeting of the KJR in the recently renovated Fezi youth leisure center in Unterföhring was the mental health of young people. Diana Doko, founder of the “Friends for Life” association, was connected digitally from Berlin and provided information about depression, suicide prevention, offers of help and therapy options. The question also arose as to what youth organizations can do to support children and young people. Important means for this are the information about depression, suicide and mental health as well as, in case of doubt, the offers of advice centers. KJR chairman Jan Museler made it clear that youth work is not unaffected by the current crises: “We already have green electricity in all facilities, but because we are only allowed to build limited financial reserves, there could be problems with the price increases,” warned he.
