Famous British TV personality Paul O’Grady has died at the age of 67, as reported, among other things, by “BBC News”.. He died “unexpectedly but peacefully” last Tuesday (March 28), his husband Andre Portasio said in a statement. A member of the British royal family, who is expected in Germany these hours, should be particularly hurt by this news: King’s wife Camilla (75) had a close friendship with the moderator and comedian.

O’Grady began his career in the ’90s as drag queen personality Lily Savage. Later he moderated various talk formats, among other things, and also dedicated himself to a great love on TV – the passion for animals, especially dogs, was the topic of the format “Paul O’Grady: For The Love of Dogs”. It is through this passion that he finally got to know Camilla and became friends with her, it is said.

Hugs and kisses from the king’s wife

The king’s wife, who, among other things, is the patron of a sanctuary for dogs and cats, has also appeared as a guest on his show and demonstrated her close bond with her dog Beth.

As recently as December 2022, O’Grady had praised his royal girlfriend to the skies. The “Daily Mail” quoted him as saying at the time: “Camilla is a really fun woman – you can have great fun with her without feeling like you’re at a public event. I always get a big hug and kiss from her, which always shocks everyone.”

It wasn’t until early March that Camilla had to say goodbye to another loved one. Her brother-in-law Simon Elliot, to whom her sister Annabel (74) was married for over 50 years, died a few weeks ago at the age of 82. The news was confirmed, among other things, by a statement by the relatives of the deceased to the “Daily Mail”.
