Apparently King Charles used to be averse to horse racing, but now he seems to be developing a passion for Royal Ascot.

The traditional horse race Royal Ascot will take place from 20th to 24th June 2023 – for the first time without Queen Elizabeth (1926 – 2022). Now King Charles III. (74) took his late mother’s place at her favorite event. And alongside his wife Camilla (75), he seems to enjoy the event, which, according to media reports, he used to be averse to.

King Charles III full of excitement in the royal box

On his debut as a Man of the highest rank, the King could be seen tensely watching the performance of the horse he had bet on. According to a report by the Telegraph Charles had bet on a horse named Royal Champion to finish fifth at the end of the race.

Camilla’s passion for horse racing

While Charles has long been considered a horse racing agnostic, his wife Camilla is the opposite: she is according to the Daily Mail Known for being a lifelong horse racing fanatic. The tension on Tuesday could also be read on her face.

Wearing a Dior suit and equipped with binoculars, she took part in what was happening at the racecourse with a tense grimace. Apparently her enthusiasm and passion for horse racing is contagious to her husband. With Camilla by his side, Charles now appears to be following in his mother’s footsteps at Royal Ascort.

Incidentally, Charles and Camilla were accompanied in the stands by Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles (48), who, like his mother, seems to be just as big a horse racing fan.
