The North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un accuses the US of being responsible for the military tensions on the peninsula. He described their actions as hostile.

Following the latest signals of détente, North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un has blamed the US for the military conflicts on the Korean peninsula. The US is the “main cause” of the instability, he said on Tuesday, according to the state news agency KCNA, in an opening speech at an armaments exhibition in the capital Pyongyang.

Kim Jong Un considers US actions to be hostile

The administration of US President Joe Biden had repeatedly stated that it would be open to talks with representatives of North Korea at any time without preconditions. However, Kim now said US actions “gave no reason to believe that they are not hostile”.

North and South Korea had just restored their communication lines last week. The move was an attempt to create “lasting peace” on the peninsula, Kim Jong Un declared at the time. The two countries had previously fueled military tensions through missile tests.
