KI: You have to learn how to deal with new images – opinion

Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann supports the EU’s plan to deal with artificial intelligence. “Image material that was produced by artificial intelligence should, in my opinion, be identified as such,” he told the Germany editorial network. The idea is not new. Even before politics, digital and media companies realized that automating image creation with generative AI would become a problem. In November 2019, the software company Adobe founded New York Times and the short messaging service Twitter, which was not yet in the hands of Elon Musk at the time, founded an organization called the “Content Authenticity Initiative”. That was three years before image generators spat out images that look like authentic photos. One of the main tasks the initiative set itself was to develop a labeling standard for AI images. Hundreds of companies, agencies, organizations and individuals have now joined the project.
