Apple has introduced its new smartphone. In addition to the iPhone 15, the focus of the presentation was the new Apple Watch Series 9.

On September 12th, Apple boss Tim Cook (62) once again welcomed the world to a keynote speech from Apple Park in Cupertino, California. In the presentation, the tech giant focused primarily on the next one when it comes to new devices iPhone and a new Apple Watch.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro: Four new models

If you want to buy a new smartphone, Apple has four new models to choose from. The smartphone comes onto the market in iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max variants. All models use Apple’s “Dynamic Island” at the top of the screen, which dynamically adapts to notifications or activities and shows, for example, when a call is currently being received.

The peak display brightness of iPhone 15 (6.1-inch display) and iPhone 15 Plus (6.7-inch display) reaches up to 2,000 nits. An A16 Bionic chip with six CPU cores provides power for apps and games. And it’s not just the display that should be colorful, the casing with rounded edges also comes in five colors – blue, yellow, green, pink and black.

Taking high-resolution photos should be made possible by a new camera system that relies on a main camera with 48 megapixels. In addition to the front camera, there is also a double telephoto zoom and an ultra-wide-angle camera (twelve megapixels). Using machine learning, smartphones should automatically recognize when users want to take portraits. The focus point of a recording can also be redefined afterwards.

The battery should last up to 20 hours (iPhone 15) or 26 hours (iPhone 15 Plus) when playing videos. Depending on the storage variant, the price of the iPhone 15 is at least 949 euros, and that of the iPhone 15 Plus is at least 1,099 euros. Customers can pre-order from September 15th, and the smartphones will be available from September 22nd

iPhone 15 Pro: The new Apple flagships

The two flagships iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come in an elegant titanium design – in the colors Titan Blue, Titan Natural, Titan White and Titan Black. According to Apple, these are the lightest Pro models to date.

Both are equipped with an A17 Pro chip. This should not only be more powerful but also more energy efficient and, according to Apple, also enable a new level of mobile gaming thanks to the new GPU with six cores. The batteries provide juice for this and for the 6.1-inch (iPhone 15 Pro) or 6.7-inch (iPhone 15 Pro Max) displays, which last up to 23 hours (Pro) and 29 hours (Pro Max) for video playback ) should persevere. In addition, all four iPhone variants appear with a USB-C port for the first time. This means that consumers can basically use the same charging cables as with many Android devices.

With the new “Action Button” on the side, the Pro models not only allow you to switch between silent mode and the smartphone ringing as before. The button can also be reassigned. For example, users can quickly access voice memos or the camera. In addition to the 48-megapixel main camera, there is also an ultra-wide-angle camera with twelve megapixels installed here. The Pro model also has a 3x optical zoom, the Pro Max has a 5x optical zoom.

Depending on the storage variant you choose, at least 1,199 euros are due for the iPhone 15 Pro – and at least 1,499 euros for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Interested parties can also pre-order here from September 15th. The smartphones will be released on September 22nd

Use “Double Tap” to make a call

The new generation of in-house smartwatches is called Apple Watch Series 9 and is intended to accompany users all day long with a battery life of up to around 18 hours. The main innovation is the more powerful S9 SiP chip. Among other things, this should offer a new neural engine with four cores that can handle a wide variety of tasks thanks to machine learning. For example, Siri should in the future also be able to provide information about your own health data.

The brighter display shines with up to 2,000 nits, but the biggest change in everyday use is likely to come to users with a new gesture. The “Double Tap” function will appear via a software update next month. If you quickly tap your index finger and thumb together twice, you control the primary button of an app. For example, users can answer and hang up phone calls or start and stop playing music.

The smart watch can be pre-ordered now and is available in a total of eight different colors. An aluminum version is available from 449 euros in rosé, midnight, polar star, silver and (product) red, a stainless steel version from 799 euros in gold, silver and graphite. The Apple Watch Series 9 will be available from September 22nd.

The company also introduced its bigger brother, the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which is also equipped with an S9 SiP chip but with a display with a maximum brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The watch lasts up to 36 hours – or up to 72 hours in power saving mode. The smartwatch costs 899 euros, can be ordered now and will also be released on September 22nd.
