Alongside John Travolta: Katherine Heigl returns with “That’s Amore!” back to her favorite genre: the romantic comedy.

Katherine Heigl (44) returns to the romantic comedy. This genre made the actress one of the highest-paid female Hollywood stars in the mid to late noughties. She plays alongside John Travolta (69) in the RomCom “That’s Amore!” That gave the production company Palisades Park Pictures according to media reports known.

Heigl plays an introverted woman named Patty Amore in the film. She suffers from various tics and neuroses and has long since withdrawn from the dating jungle – not least because of her overprotective father and a secret from the past.

John Travolta as modern “Marty”

But then she meets Nick Venere (Travolta), who has never been married and is past his prime. “He has never heard the words ‘I love you’ and doesn’t think he will ever hear them,” reads the official description of the story.

Producers compare their comedy and the main character with the film “Marty”. In 1955, Ernest Borgnine (1917-2012) played the title hero, a lonely butcher who unexpectedly found love. Borgnine and the film won the Oscar.

Katherine Heigl: Back to the rom-com after overkill

Katherine Heigl had recently stayed away from romantic comedies. She just shot too many of them, she said in an interview with “Marie Claire” in 2014. After her breakthrough with “Grey’s Anatomy” (from 2005), Heigl had distinguished herself as the new queen of the rom-coms. With hits like “Beim the First Time” (2007), “27 Dresses” (2008) and “The Naked Truth” (2009), she succeeded Julia Roberts (55), Meg Ryan (61) and Co. She was last seen in the Netflix series “Always there for you”.
