He fled the GDR, was a stockbroker in Frankfurt and is probably Germany’s most popular TV presenter today. Kai Pflaume on friendliness as a virtue, dad jokes and his hobby of cleaning shoes.
Interviewed by
Johanna Adorjan
The interview takes place at the best breakfast time in a large and very busy coffee house right next to Hamburg Central Station. Kai Pflaume chose the location. He also reserved by telephone, in his name, and even determined the table in advance: it is slightly elevated on a gallery in the shop window. So the interview is quite public, but the moderator doesn’t mind.
