Djamila Rowe moved into the jungle camp as a latecomer. But that doesn’t mean that the alleged diplomatic affair is staying in the background. On day four, she told honestly about her bad childhood.

There were many headlines about Djamila Rowe in the noughties. The make-up artist became famous because she allegedly had an affair with a Swiss ambassador. Whether that was really the case or whether she launched the story herself is not known to this day. Now Rowe is trying to prove himself in the jungle camp. And she is particularly noticeable with her honest manner and her sense of humour.

So she already made fun of her injected lips. But Rowe also shows her sensitive side. In a conversation with Markus Mörl, she talked about her tragic childhood. The trigger was the increasing hunger in the jungle camp. She knows all about that, Rowe revealed to her camp colleague.

“For me, this is a double challenge. I often had to go hungry as a child,” said the make-up artist. In the jungle phone, she reported that her childhood was heavily influenced by poverty.

“I came to my grandparents when I was six months old and both of my grandparents were alcoholics. Back in the days of the GDR, the state gave me money – actually for food, clothing and food. My grandparents always spent it on alcohol. Me I didn’t even have bread at school. I often did homework for other people and I got their food for it. So I’ve known from a young age what it’s like to be hungry. It opens up old wounds. I’m never protected been,” she confessed through tears.

That is also the reason why you see them in the jungle now. She is there to make a better life possible for her daughter. In 2021, Rowe was already trying to win a ticket for the camp at the “Jungle Show”. Back then, however, she only finished second, one place behind Filip Pavlovic, who was crowned king of the jungle the following year. If Rowe continues to be so vulnerable and human, she too could have a chance to go far.
