Julien Fournier’s email authenticated by the leaders of OGC Nice

A week after the explosion of the “Galtier affair”, it is still radio silence on the side of OGC Nice. In any case, vis-à-vis the outside world. Because internally, the leaders of Nice spoke to their employees on Tuesday, reports RMC Sport. A trio made up of Dave Brailsford (sports director at club owner Ineos), Jean-Claude Blanc (recently appointed general manager of Ineos) and Florent Ghisolfi (sports director) presented them with the facts, and in particular the reasons for the search at the club’s headquarters on Friday.

Above all, the three leaders confirmed the veracity of Julien Fournier’s email sent to the club’s management on May 23. This letter, in which the former sports director alerts his superiors to racist and discriminatory remarks by the current PSG coach, is at the origin of the whole affair. It had been revealed by the independent journalist Romain Molina then by RMC in “L’After Foot”.

According to this email, Galtier would have asked Fournier to “take into account the reality of the city of Nice and that we could not have so many blacks and Muslims in the team”. “There was no sporting argument but only religious arguments or skin color,” assures the former leader. The public prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme, after announcing the opening of a preliminary investigation into suspicions of “discrimination based on an alleged race or belonging to a religion”, announced that he would no longer communicate on this case “during the investigation”.
