Julien Bayou leaves EELV and the environmental group in the Assembly

There are only 21 left. Julien Bayou has finally decided to leave the environmental group in the National Assembly, we have learned 20 minutes this Tuesday. The Paris MP also announces that he is leaving the EELV party, in a letter sent internally. This departure, when Julien Bayou had already been withdrawn from the group for a month, follows the complaint against him from his ex-partner, Anaïs Leleux, for “moral harassment” and “abuse of weakness”.

Julien Bayou is elected deputy in June 2022 in the 3rd and 10th arrondissements of Paris, with the Nupes label. At the time, he was still national secretary of EELV and became co-president of the environmental group of the lower house. In the summer, everything goes wrong: an ex-partner, anonymous at the time, accuses him of psychological violence in an email sent to several environmentalist personalities and to the internal unit at EELV on sexist and sexual violence.

In the wake of the Quatennens affair

The cell takes up the file but these are the declarations of Sandrine Rousseau in the show C to you, on France 5, in the middle of the Adrien Quatennens affair, which gives this affair a whole new dimension. Julien Bayou resigns from his positions at the head of the party and the group and withdraws. But the situation is complicated: Anaïs Leleux does not trust the internal cell of EELV. This notes the impossibility of carrying out its investigations and closes the file.

Julien Bayou is immediately fully reintegrated into the environmental group, as had already been revealed 20 minutes at the time.

The latest twist comes at the beginning of March 2024 when, for the first time, Julien Bayou’s ex-partner testifies openly in the press: in Days, Anaïs Leleux specifies what she criticizes the Paris deputy and announces that she is filing a complaint. The latter then steps back again.

All our information on Julien Bayou

Last week, the suspension of Julien Bayou was discussed by the environmental group, but the number of votes in favor did not reach the necessary 60%. If the party leadership announced an external investigation, Julien Bayou will, once again, have been quicker to react than the authorities of his party and his group. This resignation comes at the worst time for the green group as Thursday takes place their “niche” day, during which EELV will have control of the Assembly agenda. A key moment to put forward your projects… Failed.
