Julien Bayou goes on the offensive and targets Sandrine Rousseau

The crisis that environmentalists are experiencing took the form of a public unpacking, Monday, September 26. Silent until then, Julien Bayou, whose ex-companion had made a report to the cell on sexual and sexist violence in Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV), went on the offensive. Rather than confront the press, he chose to appoint a much-appreciated criminal lawyer on the left. The lawyer Marie Dosé, known in particular for her defense of families of French jihadists seeking to repatriate children, delivered on Monday afternoon the version of the facts of her client, who had a few hours earlier resigned from his duties as first secretary and vice-president of the environmental group in the National Assembly.

Following a separation in November 2021 and several ” episodes of tension, pressure, blackmail, and more peaceful moments”, detailed the lawyer, the alleged victim would have transmitted on June 30, 2022 to the friends of Julien Bayou, to Sandrine Rousseau and to the cell of EELV a “ email calling his former companion a manipulator, and evoking his intention to “die””, before “to take medicine”. The ex-companion would then have sent a message threatening to “come back, and in force”, she continued, implying that the latter was seeking revenge.

His attacks then focused on Sandrine Rousseau, who “chose to make [l’affaire] public in “C to You” ». On September 17, the ecofeminist deputy had revealed on France 5 the suicide attempt committed by the ex-companion of Julien Bayou. “There are behaviors likely to break the moral health of women”, she had launched. ” What are we talking about ? », replied Marie Dosé on Monday, recalling that Sandrine Rousseau had herself recognized that there was no illegal fact. For the lawyer, the MP instrumentalized the ” fight against sexual and gender-based violence for political ends”, the approach of the Greens congress, which is to be held at the end of the year.

A political maneuver?

The party is entering a turbulent zone. He is thus lent to Sandrine Rousseau, the main representative of political ecology on television sets, the ambition to increase her weight within the movement. Unable to claim the post of first secretary, because of her status as a deputy, she supports the elected representative of Lille, Mélissa Camara, who wishes to direct the movement towards something “more radical, more intersectional”as she pointed out to Release last week.
