In the new edition of the so-called Ballstädt Trial, the Erfurt Regional Court pronounced the verdicts on Monday. The nine defendants were sentenced to suspended sentences in ten cases for dangerous bodily harm. Seven of the defendants were sentenced to one year each, and two others were sentenced to one year and ten months each. Three of the defendants are in pre-trial detention on other charges, the rest are at large.
Judgments from a first criminal trial were conceded by the Federal Court of Justice
The perpetrators, who are considered members of the right-wing extremist scene, attacked a fair company in Ballstädt in the Gotha district in February 2014 and injured several people, some of them shear. In a first trial in 2017, imprisonment and suspended sentences were imposed on her by the Federal Court of Justice in the spring of 2020 for formal reasons. The new edition of the process took place under great security precautions at the Erfurt trade fair.
