More than 800 people were celebrating Christmas in “Joy”. They will have to spend New Year’s Eve in quarantine. At least one guest was probably infected with the omicron variant of the corona virus. There was also a corona outbreak at a party in Kampen on Sylt.
All visitors who were at the “Joy” in Henstedt-Ulzburg on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day must go into quarantine immediately. The Segeberg district has now announced this. The background is that a corona infection with suspicion of the omicron variant was confirmed in at least one party. Therefore, those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated must now isolate themselves for 14 days.
820 people are affected
No mask had to be worn at the two events, and distance rules did not apply. Since the Omikron variant is considered to be much more contagious, all guests of the parties are rated as close contacts. According to “Joy” managing director Joey Claussen, this affects around 820 people. According to the assessment of the infection protection, the admission controls, i.e. the reviews of the 2G-Plus regulation, were carried out correctly and conscientiously.
Managing Director: “There is no such thing as one hundred percent security”
“We have implemented all applicable requirements since September and did our utmost to prevent a situation like this,” said Claussen. “But we always knew that there is no such thing as one hundred percent security and now we have to try together to prevent greater damage.” That is why he has now contacted the 622 visitors who bought their tickets online directly by email. He also asks these celebrants to help find and inform the 200 other guests who bought their tickets at the box office.
Anyone who was in the “Joy” on Christmas days and is therefore considered to be a close contact person should immediately contact the health department responsible for their place of residence.
120 guests are threatened with quarantine after party in the “Red Cliff”
A corona outbreak also occurred at the party in the “Rotes Kliff” club in Kampen on Sylt. This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the district of North Friesland NDR Schleswig-Holstein. Of the approximately 120 guests, twelve people have now had a positive PCR test. How the guests of the Red Cliff got infected is not yet clear. As in “Joy”, the 2G plus rule also applied to this party. The operator of the club, Peter Kliem, told the Sylter Rundschau that one to three unvaccinated people would have sneaked into the party with falsified vaccination certificates. At the district health department, however, it is assumed that the guests were infected with the Omicron variant. Because the contact tracking is still ongoing, the authorities ask all guests who were at the party in the club “Rotes Kliff” on Christmas Eve to be tested immediately. The club has already taken the necessary steps and will remain closed for the time being.
Editor’s note: We made a mistake in an earlier version of this article. The club “Rotes Kliff” is in Kampen, not in Keitum. The editors apologize for this mistake.
