Jordan Bardella no longer wants his party to be systematically criticized by the rest of the political class. The head of the National Rally ensures in the JDD that his “fight” is “the normalization” of his party, posing as a “voice of reason” less than two months before the European elections for which his list is in the lead.
“I hope that all French people who share our ideas, or at least our love for the homeland, can express it openly, without fear of caricatures or preconceived ideas,” he declares. “My objective is to make support for a political party which believes in the French destiny and the genius of its people commonplace.”
A strategy with 2027 in the sights
“Today, we are the voice of reason in a political landscape where our adversaries, on the left and in the government, look like fanatics or ideologues,” argues the 28-year-old MEP, who leads as in 2019 the RN list for the Europeans.
A strategy which must also prevail with a view to 2027, because in the presidential election, “the most excessive candidate is always eliminated. This is why (…) I reject any form of going back, of provocation. Normalization is a step towards the maturity of a political movement,” he insists.
In view of the June 9 election, Jordan Bardella is credited with more than 30% of voting intentions in the polls, far ahead of his main competitors, such as the Macronist list of Valérie Hayer which has not yet crossed the 20 mark. %.
Threat of a motion of censure
