Amber Heard and Johnny Depp fight again in court. As early as the second day of the trial, Heard made serious allegations. Her lawyers describe how Depp became violent towards her.
Right at the beginning of Johnny Depp’s civil trial against Amber Heard, serious allegations were made. Heard’s lawyers described an incident that is said to have taken place in 2015 during the ex-husbands’ stay in Australia.

“He pressed her against the bar. He threw bottles (…) at her. He dragged her across the floor on the broken bottles. He hit her. He kicked her. He told her that he will fucking kill her and he fucking hates her,” attorney Elaine Bredehoft said. “He pounded her, pounded her, and then he penetrated her with a liquor bottle,” she told the judges.
Both Depp and Heard were in the courtroom in Fairfax, Virginia. The process is broadcast with cameras. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is demanding around $50 million in damages and a $350,000 fine from his ex-wife for defamation. The actress is seeking $100 million in damages and a $350,000 fine for defamation.
Depp’s lawyers deny violence on his part
While Bredehoft spoke about the alleged violence by Depp, he shook his head. His defense attorneys dismissed the allegations and said that Heard always changed their statements and relied on shock effects. “Miss Heard is a deeply disturbed person who manipulates those around her,” attorney Camille Vasquez said in her opening statement.

Depp’s defense attorney also described how the two met and how Heard used her alleged art of manipulation at the time. “She tried really hard to win him over by playing the doting girlfriend and it worked – he fell head over heels in love with her,” the attorney explained. And according to her, Heard also used violence. “She used physical violence, threw things at him, hit him, told him he was a coward, he wasn’t man enough because he wouldn’t stay and fight with her,” Vasquez said.
Amber Heard is said to be “just about image”.
Depp’s friends warned him about Heard and he wanted to flee, Vasquez explained, but the “Aquaman” actress equated violence with love. “She apologized with poetic excuses, as if the violence only showed how intense and overwhelming her love for him was,” the attorney said.
Addressing the jury, she emphasized that Heard was only concerned with her image. She used the “Me Too” movement to put herself in a good light. “Miss Heard and her attorneys are going to tell you some really horrible stories of abuse,” she announced. “They’re meant to shock and overwhelm you, they’re meant to be explosive and distract you from your common sense, which will tell you this is all a lie. No single instance of abuse could have happened in the way Ms Heard claims.”
The trial before a seven-person jury is expected to last around six weeks. Depp and Heard are said to testify themselves, and prominent witnesses are expected, including Tesla boss Elon Musk and actors Paul Bettany and James Franco.
