Joe Lara, star of the series “Tarzan”, presumed dead in plane crash

Joe Lara, the star of the television series Tarzan, boarded a small business jet on Saturday, with seven people on board, which crashed in Tennessee. This Sunday, rescuers were without hope of finding survivors. “We are no longer looking for survivors at this point,” said chief rescuer Joshua Sanders at a press conference.

Sunday afternoon, “several components of the plane as well as human remains” were discovered.

The plane crashed shortly after take off

The business jet took off from Smyrna, Tennessee Airport on Saturday for Palm Beach, Florida. But the plane crashed shortly after takeoff in Percy Priest Lake, about twenty kilometers south of Nashville.

Joe Lara was famous for having embodied Tarzan in the Tarzan: The Epic Adventures series, from 1996 to 1997, series broadcast in France on M6 under the title The Fantastic Adventures of Tarzan from 1997 to 1998.

His wife Gwen Shamblin Lara, also on board, was the head of a Christian weight loss group, Weigh Down Ministries.
