Jewish family saga: C. Bernd Sucher presents his novel – Munich

His own family history, especially the life of his grandmother, inspired C. Bernd Sucher to write a novel: “Rahel’s Journey” (Secession Verlag). That Rahel was 83 years old when she decided to take on her family’s displeasure and fly to Germany. She and her husband, Jacob Cohen, emigrated from Fürth and Hamburg to the USA as small children in the care of their parents and grandparents, fleeing from the National Socialists.

Sucher develops his novel across five generations and continents. He, himself a theater critic and known for his literary TV and live format “Suchers Passions”, tells stories emotionally, with humor and seriousness at the same time. And for him it’s not just about celebrating life itself, but also the arts. The book premiere will take place in the Jewish Museum Munich at Sankt-Jakobs-Platz 16, on Tuesday, February 27th, at 7 p.m.
