Etna is spewing lava again
Impressive natural spectacle in Sicily: The Etna volcano spewed lava again at night, up to 6,000 meters above sea level.
Europe’s largest active volcano Etna has once again attracted attention with a lava eruption. As the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in Catania announced, the fountain rose up to 6,000 meters above sea level on Friday evening and lit up the night sky in eastern Sicily.
At 9:35 p.m. Etna had calmed down again. Ashfall was reported from three villages. The volcano on the Mediterranean island is around 3,350 meters high. It is active again and again, most recently in mid-November.
