Ismaning: Airport should not slow down wind power – district of Munich

Flughafen München GmbH and German air traffic control are to check the applicable safety radii at Munich Airport. This is what the factions of the SPD and the Free Voter Community in the Ismaninger municipal council are demanding. The local politicians hope that such a review will reduce the distance requirements currently in force – and thus improve the chances for wind turbines in the districts of Erding, Freising and Munich.

The currently valid safety radii for the airspace around the airport in the Erdinger Moos limit the surrounding municipalities when planning wind turbines. The air traffic control systems at Munich Airport are no longer state-of-the-art, criticize the SPD and the Free Voters’ Association from Ismaning. They refer to other major German airports where the safety radius of the radar systems has been significantly reduced after an inspection.

In order to convince the operating company of the airport, whose shareholders are the Free State of Bavaria, the Federal Republic of Germany and the city of Munich, of the need for such an inspection, the municipalities that have joined together in the Northern Alliance – i.e. Ismaning, Garching, Unterföhring , Unterschleißheim, Oberschleißheim, Neufahrn, Eching and Hallbergmoos – as well as the districts of Munich, Freising and Erding formulate a resolution according to the will of the local politicians.
