The airline keeps founding new branches in order to reduce personnel costs. The union Vereinigung Cockpit wants to negotiate centrally for all pilots in the future – which would enormously strengthen their position of power.
The pilots of the Lufthansa Group are preparing for the next big collective bargaining dispute with the group. The union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has decided to set up a central wage committee for all Lufthansa subsidiaries. This will then be responsible for all collective bargaining. The step is to be formally decided in May, but according to trade union circles it is already “irreversible”.
