The Minister of the Interior welcomed this Thursday evening on TF1 and on the social network X: the censorship of the Constitutional Council on the Immigration law did not affect the articles defended by the government. “The Constitutional Council has validated all of the articles proposed by the government,” Gérald Darmanin was satisfied with Gilles Bouleau.
The Constitutional Council on Thursday fully or partially revoked 35 of the 86 articles of this text of law, which had initially been desired and presented by the government. The bill tabled by the government early last year initially included 27 articles. The text, which was the subject of a battle in the Assembly and the Senate, was then increased by amendments made by the opposition.

Immigration law applicable after presidential promulgation
The Constitutional Council rejected most of the articles not on the merits, but because it judged that these articles were too far from the initial bill. This provision provided that the police could, upon information from the prosecutor, take fingerprints or take a photograph of adults in an irregular situation without consent. This Friday, Gérald Darmanin announced that he had brought together the prefects to prepare the application of the law. The text must still be promulgated by the President of the Republic before being applicable.
