The guesswork about possible concessions by the Tehran regime to the population continues. After the Attorney General of the Islamic Republic announced at the weekend that the “moral police” responsible for enforcing the compulsory wearing of headscarves had been abolished, pro-government media reported on the matter. But there was still no official announcement by the Iranian government as of Monday. With such a far-reaching step, however, it appears to be imperative. Especially since the Attorney General, as part of the judiciary, is not officially responsible for the moral police. This reports to the Minister of the Interior.
