iPadOS 17 with new lock screen, interactive widgets, PDF tools

iPadOS 17 brings the central iPhone lock screen innovations of the past year to the iPad: In future, the tablet’s lock screen can be made more personal and flexible with widgets. In addition, the upcoming version of the operating system will allow you to set up multiple iPad lock screens, each with its own wallpaper and widget, and switch between them. Just like on the iPhone, this can be linked to Apple’s focus mode in order to quickly adapt the device to different use cases. The live activities known from the iPhone also come to the iPad lock screen.

The new features of iPadOS 17 include interactive widgets for the home screen: The widgets are more than just an info display for the associated app and allow the user to perform certain actions directly in the widget – such as checking off a to-do list. Apple has also promised advanced tools for working with PDF files, such as filling out PDFs. In addition, other innovations announced for iOS 17, such as optimized autocorrect, will also come to the iPad.

The Stage Manager window manager, which was newly introduced last year and was much criticized, allows more flexibility in handling windows in iPadOS 17, Apple emphasized. Apple is also bringing the Health app to the iPad, which serves as a central collection point for health data.

Message will be updated further.
