The big Corona update iOS 15.4 is here: unlocking with a mask, vaccination card in the wallet and new emojis

Apple has released iOS 15.4 – unlocking many new features for the iPhone and iPad. From now on you can unlock your iPhone with a mask, save the vaccination card in the wallet and use numerous new emojis.
No question: The update to iOS 15.3 a few weeks ago was important. But: It hardly offered any new functions and was solely for your security. With iOS 15.4 it looks completely different this time: The recently released update offers many practical innovations, especially against the background of the still acute corona situation, an installation is almost essential.
Because with iOS 15.4 it is finally possible to unlock devices from the iPhone 12 with a face mask. The fact that this was not possible was previously considered a nuisance in places where the mask was not allowed to be removed from the face, for example when shopping or on public transport.

Once you update the system, the system will ask you to scan your face again, then scanning will work with mask too. A great relief.
Proof of vaccination in the wallet – this is how it works
The option of storing the vaccination card in the wallet is also useful for making everyday corona life easier. In addition to CovPass and the Corona-Warn-App, this is another way to quickly and easily access vaccination certificates if you have to show the QR code.
Depositing the vaccination card is very simple: use the camera app to scan the QR code of your vaccination certificate, which you received from the pharmacy, for example. As soon as the device has recognized the code, a message appears that it is a corona vaccination certificate. If you tap on this message, the iPhone offers you to deposit it in the wallet – done.
Lots of new features and faces
The update also includes new features for Apple Mail, password management, shortcuts, Facetime, Siri, and the Camera app on newer devices.
In addition, 37 new emojis are waiting to be used in all kinds of chats. There are seven faces, seven hand gestures and numerous new symbols, such as a disco ball, a crutch, a lifebuoy, soap bubbles and a coral.
Salute, dissolve, melt away, heart symbol: You can use these and many other new symbols in all chats from iOS 15.4.
The update to iOS 15.4 is now available for download via the system settings. Updates to MacOS 12.3 and WatchOS 8.5 are also available.
