Investigators plan test rides of Legoland roller coaster after accident – Bavaria

Experts have already examined the train several times after 31 people were injured in an accident there. It will remain blocked for the time being – even if a special test operation is planned in the coming weeks.

After the roller coaster accident with 31 injuries in the Legoland amusement park, investigators are planning test rides for further investigations. The ride in Günzburg, Swabia, was therefore released for repair, said a spokesman for the Memmingen public prosecutor’s office. The test drives without passengers are planned “to determine where the cause of the error lies” that led to the accident. The spokesman did not give any details.

The “Feuerdrache” train will remain closed to visitors to the amusement park for the time being. According to the spokesman, experts have inspected the ride several times. There is no result so far. A spokeswoman for the theme park said the coaster would not reopen until investigations were complete. A specific date has not yet been given.

It is also unclear whether another security check will be ordered after the police investigations in Legoland before the roller coaster goes back into operation. A decision on this will only be made after the investigations have been completed, said a spokeswoman for the Günzburg city administration.

On August 11, a train from the “Feuerdrache” roller coaster ran into a train in front of it in the amusement park in Günzburg, Swabia. 31 people were injured, one seriously. Criminal police and the public prosecutor’s office now want to clarify the cause of the accident with experts.
