Shock during the train journey: Stones were thrown at an ICE train near Offenburg while it was traveling. Two windows were broken. Nobody got hurt.

Unknown people have one ICE allegedly threw stones at it during the journey and smashed several windows. “We are currently ruling out a shelling,” said a federal police spokeswoman on Wednesday. It can be assumed that a stone was thrown.

Two windows in two carriages – carriage six and carriage ten – were destroyed and no one was injured. “This is not a trivial offense,” said the spokeswoman. It was pure luck that no one was injured in the incident on Tuesday evening. Whether the stones penetrated the windows and ended up in the wagons is the subject of investigations by forensic scientists. The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported.

ICE from Freiburg to Hanover

According to the information, the affected ICE 102 left Freiburg for Hanover. According to a statement from the Federal Police, the incident occurred near Rust in the Ortenau district south of Offenburg. The ICE then drove at reduced speed to Karlsruhe, where the passengers had to get off. The ICE was taken out of service there.

It was said that an investigation was being carried out due to dangerous interference with rail traffic. The damage was estimated at around 2,500 euros.
