Investigations into manslaughter against employees of a nursing facility – Bavaria

After the death of an old woman, two employees of a care facility in the Upper Palatinate are being investigated on initial suspicion of manslaughter. As the Regensburg public prosecutor’s office reported on Tuesday, the 93-year-old was said to have been given strong painkillers without medical necessity. This is said to have led to the death of the elderly woman.

The Bavaria media group’s newspapers initially reported on the case. On Monday there was a search of the care facility in Furth im Wald (Cham district).

One of the two accused people is said to have given the patient an opioid without a doctor’s prescription. The second person is said to have provided the medication for this purpose. “The accused have not yet commented on the suspicion of the crime,” said senior public prosecutor Thomas Rauscher.

He pointed out that the accused continued to be presumed innocent. Due to the early stage of the proceedings, no further details can be provided at this time for tactical and personal rights reasons.
