An investigation was opened, Wednesday, after the reception, at the synagogue of Béziers (Hérault), of an anonymous letter of threats, against the Jewish community, the mayor Robert Ménard (various right) and his wife , the deputy Emmanuelle Ménard (various right), learned 20 minutes at the Béziers public prosecutor’s office.

The investigations relate to “threats of crimes against people because of race, ethnicity, nation or religion” and “death threats against elected officials”.

Complaints

They continue in another prosecution, which was not specified by the prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland, to preserve the investigation. The National Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office is informed of these facts, but has not considered it necessary, so far, to take cognizance of them.

It was Robert Ménard, the mayor of Béziers, who revealed that the synagogue had received this letter on Wednesday morning. “This is what it costs right-wing elected officials to always be on the side of the Jewish community, in the face of anti-Semitism,” he tweeted. The mayor of Béziers, the deputy for Hérault and the Jewish community of Béziers have lodged a complaint.
