Introducing zkLink Nova — the industry’s first Rollup Aggregated Layer 3 network.

zkLink Nova’s mission is to aggregate liquidity dispersed across Ethereum Layer 2 Rollups, promoting a unified and interoperable Rollup ecosystem. Nova can aggregate liquidity from any Rollup using Layer 2 technology stacks like ZK. Stack, Polygon CDK and OP Stack etc.

Powered by zkLink Nexus technology, Nova inherits the security of Ethereum, with multi-chain synchronization possible through the Ethereum Mainnet. Nova is also powered by the ZK Stack and is EVM compatible.

Evolution: Ethereum → Ethereum Layer 2 → Aggregated Rollup

The emergence of Layer 2 rollups to relieve congestion and reduce transaction costs on Ethereum has succeeded in providing basic scalability to the network. However, it has also introduced new challenges, most notably. Fragmented liquidity and reduced interoperability

The liquidity in different rollups results in a fragmented market. This negatively affects the user experience. Moreover, Until today Limited interoperability between Layer 2 is also increasing and continues to impede the smooth movement of assets and liquidity across networks. where cross-rollup transactions are either too expensive (via Ethereum L1) or lack security (via trusted bridge)

To solve these challenges, zkLink Labs has designed a unified Layer 3 integration built on top of Ethereum and Layer 2 to consolidate dispersed liquidity while improving interoperability across the ecosystem.

zkLink Nova is an EVM-compatible Aggregated Layer 3 ZK Rollup network built on Ethereum as Layer 2 Rollups and consists of a modular architecture powered by ZK Stack and zkLink Nexus technologies.

It also uses ZK Proofs for pooling assets and liquidity across connected networks. Additionally, as a Layer 3 ZK Rollup network, Nova offers additional benefits regarding scalability and sovereignty that inherit security. of Ethereum

DApp developers can deploy Solidity smart contracts on Nova’s open platform and have immediate access to liquidity and native assets from fully integrated networks such as Arbitrum, zkSync, Linea, Starknet and many more. Developer and user interactions on Nova feel like a single network. It can access DApps and assets from multiple Ethereum Layer 2 networks.

Aggregation : New offers for developers and users.

One of the most frustrating aspects for Web3 users when it comes to the current Ethereum and Layer 2 network is the lack of interoperability between different Rollups, leading to a fragmented ecosystem of assets and liquidity. To solve this problem Users are forced to bridge their assets across networks using third-party protocols. This exposes users to security risks during bridging. and at the same time reveals the fundamental funding inefficiencies and serious waste of time of the current system.

This cumbersome and expensive process has been recognized as the main barrier to greater blockchain adoption. and for exploring DApps on multiple chains.

Nova therefore proposes a new approach: by leveraging zero-knowledge proofs To access pooled liquidity from the Ethereum and Ethereum Layer 2 networks without the need to bridge assets across networks.

With Nova, developers no longer need to make 100 deployments on 100 different Layer 2s. Instead, they offer a cost-effective alternative to a single deployment on Nova and get liquidity and native assets from 100 different layer 2s. This vision makes the blockchain development experience easy. It offers a single deployment point with access to a wide liquidity pool from a number of Rollups.

Likewise for DApp users, they also benefit greatly as zkLink Nova brings broader assets and deeper liquidity into one place. Users now have a platform to seamlessly trade or manage assets across multiple networks.

Our vision is to make zkLink Nova a ‘home-chain’ for developers and users.

How does liquidity pooling happen across Ethereum and Layer 2?

Assets from Ethereum and Layer 2 are deposited to Nova’s Layer 3 network via the Canonical Rollup Bridge, with assets interacting with the gateway contract (bridge contract) being locked within the contract and remaining on the host network.

When funds from multiple sources are bridged to Layer 3, Nova’s architecture uses ZK proof verifier contracts across all connected networks to synchronize state.

To demonstrate liquidity pooling in this case, ETH tokens from layer 2 which use ETH as gas token will be automatically pooled into a single ETH token via ZK proofs on Nova.

ETH liquidity rebalancing between Layer 2 is a unique feature of Nova and occurs automatically through the aforementioned multi-chain state synchronization process. which with this design There will be no liquidity restrictions for users to withdraw ETH to the main network.

Additionally, tokens issued on Ethereum and Ethereum Layer 2 Rollups of the same value — such as USDT ERC20 and USDT ARB — can also be merged into a single USDT token on zkLink Nova through a governance process.

Native Layer 2 tokens that were previously only available on separate networks, such as ARB and MNT, can now be deposited at Nova and traded between them. The interoperability of native tokens from separate Rollups will greatly improve the capitalization rate for some DeFi applications. It also helps unlock new use cases.

Combining two amazing features for users and developers to enjoy when interacting with the network and creating applications. And the days of lack of network liquidity and complicated bridges for users to access their favorite DApps are over.

Nova’s Vision: A Unified Ethereum Rollup Ecosystem

Several proposals on the market attempt to pool liquidity on Ethereum’s Layer 2 sub-ecosystem, for example by providing a shared sequencer. Examples of these approaches include OP’s Superchain, Polygon’s AggLayer and zkSync’s Hyperbridge, among others. and many more. While these approaches offer and enable cross-rollup transactions, they only apply to a project’s specific underlying technology stack. and therefore The multiple stacking options available in these situations may aggravate the liquidity partitioning problem within the Ethereum ecosystem.

In contrast, zkLink Nova can connect different rollups of various stack options, including ZK Rollups and Optimistic Rollups and any additional stacks they create. Our approach sacrifices cross-rollup transactions, but offers the broadest pool of liquidity across the entire Ethereum ecosystem.

Unlimited Ethereum-level security

Ethereum as the industry’s largest smart contract platform and is the second largest blockchain by market capitalization. It has a proven track record in terms of network security and stability, and Layer 2 inherits Ethereum’s security through fraud proofs or validity proofs. zkLink Nova is a Layer 3 Rollup Network built on top of Ethereum and Layer 2. Many layers also inherit Ethereum’s security.

Every transaction on Nova is verified through Zero-knowledge proof to prevent security risks that malicious node operators may send fake on-chain transactions, which state synchronization Many networks do this through Ethereum contracts, which forward on-chain transaction sync hashes via canonical rollup bridges and ensure that ZKP data is consistent with all on-chain transactions.
