Interview with Parov Stelar – Economy

The Austrian Parov Stelar made electro swing big. A conversation about the rise as a musician, his burnout – and the question of what the audience likes.

Interviewed by

Hans von der Hagen and Miriam Hauck

An unadorned room in the old tobacco factory in Linz, the covers of past records hang on the walls, a brown leather sofa, a small kitchenette and right in the middle: Parov Stelar. The 48-year-old, whose real name is Marcus Füreder, has it Electro swing made big and is considered the most internationally successful Austrian musician since Falco. His clothes are covered with splashes of paint, he comes straight from the video shoot in his studio. Before the conversation, he opens a Linzer beer and lights up an e-cigarette.
