PETERS Yes, I feel the same way. This is also a strange lesson from our digital experiences that we have had to deal with for 30 years now: that nothing at all lasts anymore, that there is nothing that remains. Suddenly life is just an update and you think: ‘It wasn’t like that when I was a child and young person. There were things that endured for centuries, and it was also important to everyone that something last for a long time.’ I often find it strange that all of a sudden it shouldn’t count anymore. People say about things that happened five years ago: ‘That’s a really long time ago!’ People my age feel that way too. I think that’s fine with teenagers. If you’re 15 and you think your 10th birthday is incredibly far away, then I understand that. But when a 50-year-old says: ‘It’s been so long since I was 45!’ I find that kind of strange. I think the sense of time has gotten mixed up overall. This is often very irritating.
