Intendant Franz-Xaver Ohnesorg is dead – culture

He loved his musicians like no one else. Franz-Xaver Ohnesorg, born in Weilheim and educated in Munich, was a dazzling figure as director. Always impeccably dressed and wearing a bow tie, he exuded a good mood and met musicians, listeners and journalists with a stunning empathy that was untypical for an Upper Bavarian. Ohnesorg not only loved music and musicians, he also wanted to be loved. As a trained flautist, cultural scientist and business economist, he knew all too well what guarantees return (not only) in classical music: success. But this can only be achieved through coups and big decisions. Ohnesorge was the right man for that.
