“Today I would like to introduce you to the first piece of my new AI-based project called ‘Young Age(d)’,” writes Turkish photographer Alper Yesiltas under a photo on his Instagram profile that shows environmental activist Greta Thunberg as an aged woman . The AI image went viral in no time, and users around the world were celebrating the artist’s creative ideas.
“Behind the project is the question: ‘What would some young celebrities look like in a few decades?'” Yesiltas describes his new work. The “Young Age(d)” series now includes twelve works, which you can admire in the click path above.
How do Harry Styles, Dua Lipa and Ryan Gossling look in old age?
In addition to pop stars like Harry Styles, Justin Bieber and Dua Lipa, Yesiltas impresses with older versions of Hollywood actors like Emma Stone, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gossling. Even football stars Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi made it into the artist’s photo gallery. At the FIFA World Cup 2042 you will conduct an interview as coach of the final teams.
Yesiltas puts a lot of passion and time into his works. He uses various software programs, including the AI photo app “Remini” and various editing programs such as “Lightroom” or “VSCO”. Speaking to the star, he says: “The most important thing is that the image I edit looks realistic to me. The time I spend on a single image varies, but I would say it takes a while.” He has been involved with digital photography and art since 2003.
Yesiltas brings dead celebrities and fictional characters to life
The project for “Young Age(d)” is not the artist’s only one. Last year his works for “As If Nothing Happened” went around the world. They show deceased celebrities such as Lady Diana or Michael Jackson, whom Yesiltas brings back to life with his art and makes them appear as old as they would be today. You can see the results here.
For “Next Chapter”, on the other hand, under the question “What would fictional characters look like if their story were to be continued today?” fictional characters like Forrest Gump age. And as part of his new project “Thisness”, he brings past personalities such as Audrey Hepburn or US founding father Benjamin Franklin to the present day.
