North Korea has conducted another weapons test, according to the South Korean military and Japan. It’s the eighth this year.

According to Japan and the South Korean army, North Korea has again tested a missile. As the Japanese news agency Kyodo reported, citing the government in Tokyo, it may have been a ballistic missile.

According to the South Korean general staff, an unidentified projectile was fired from the east coast into the sea. According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, the Security Council should meet in Seoul.

Last medium-range missile was tested

North Korea had already tested seven missiles since the beginning of the year, most recently including a medium-range missile. UN resolutions prohibit the self-declared nuclear power from testing ballistic missiles, which, depending on the equipment, can also carry a nuclear warhead.

With the test of a medium-range missile, it had recently gone beyond the previous weapons tests this year. The country had previously tested short-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and, according to its own statements, hypersonic missiles that can fly at more than five times the speed of sound.
