At the beginning of September, special police forces searched the homes of members of a reservist group in Lower Saxony. The “slope group G.” is even said to have its own patch. have sewn. The letter G stands for the presumed leader: Jens G., lieutenant colonel in the reserve, active in the reservist association for years. Most recently, he was deputy head of the Hanover district group of reservists, and in the meantime G. was even in command of an RSU company that is responsible for homeland security in the Bundeswehr Reserve.

The public prosecutor’s office in Lüneburg is investigating in connection with the “Inclination Group G.” now against ten suspects. They are accused of commanding or joining an armed group. During the searches, three illegal and ten legal firearms were found, as well as a total of 126 cutting and stabbing weapons.

Security authorities are alarmed

So far there is no evidence that the group has planned attacks, and it is unclear what they were planning. reporter of ARD-political magazine contrasts confronted Jens G. with the allegations in front of his house north of Hanover. G. acted harmless. He did “reservist things with reservists”. He distances himself from any form of violence. But the security authorities are alarmed. The group had access to weapons, its members have military training and they have explosive connections – not only in the right-wing extremist scene.

Jens G. stated that he was doing “reservist things”.

Contact the Federal Ministry of Defence

For example, Jens G. was in contact with an official at the Federal Ministry of Defense for many years: Alexander B. He was involved in the ministry with Bundeswehr missions and had access to sensitive information about the planning of the missions. In security circles it is said that there is no evidence so far that explosive information has been leaked.

But Alexander B. was transferred from the Federal Ministry of Defense as a result of the investigation against Jens G. In 2004, Alexander B. and Jens G. attended an event organized by the “Order Community of Knight’s Cross Holders”, which glorified the SS and the Wehrmacht and denied their crimes. contrasts reported on the event at the time – Jens G. and Alexander B. can be seen in the film.

Connections to the right-wing extremist “species community”

According to research by contrasts and ARD-Capital studio has been closely networked with the right-wing extremist scene for many years – especially Jens G. himself. In the early 2000s he apparently attended meetings of the right-wing extremist “art community” lasting several days. The association has been observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution for several years. Jens G.’s wife at the time was a member of the “art community”, as can be seen from a list of members from 2011 contrasts present. Just like Stephan Ernst, who later murdered the CDU politician Walter Lübcke.

People associated with the right-wing terrorist NSU also had contact with the “art community” and attended events. “The ‘art community’ is considered one of the toughest structures in the extreme right-wing camp,” says right-wing extremism expert Andrea Röpke. “It doesn’t shut itself off from right-wing terrorism at all. The ‘Artgemeinschaft’ runs under the label of nature-religiousness and ancestral commemoration. But the ‘Artgemeinschaft’ is actually one of the most conspiratorial – and I would say – most dangerous structures that we have in Germany .”

When asked, Jens G.’s lawyer did not want to comment on his client’s connections to the right-wing extremist scene.

Planning for “Day X”

Another member of the “Inclination Group G.” – Christian G. – is closely networked in the right-wing extremist milieu. Like Jens G., he attended a national “Maitanz” in Edendorf in 2016. Christian G. came to the event holding hands with his partner Maren D., as film footage shows contrasts present.

According to information from ARDCapital studios from security circles, Maren D. was in a previous relationship with Stanley R., the former Germany boss of the violent and now banned neo-Nazi organization “Combat 18”.

Maren D. and Christian G attended a national “May dance”.

A visitor to the ethnic “May Dance” was also Wolfgang F., also a member of the “Inclination Group G”. His family is firmly rooted in the ethnic scene. “We know that this scene is extremely fanatical, that it is already drilling children, and that these ethnic structures in the Federal Republic have actually been working towards Day X, the collapse of democracy, for decades,” says right-wing extremism expert Röpke.

One suspect is an AfD member

Another trail leads to the AfD. In September, investigators also searched Kay S’s Berlin apartment. The 38-year-old is one of the suspects. To contrastsinformation, he joined the AfD in Brandenburg in autumn 2016. From an internal party email contrasts is available, it emerges that Kay S. had evidently also expressed an interest in becoming a member of the NPD in 2010. Neither Kay S. nor his AfD district association commented on request.

Demand for control of the reservist association

Martina Renner, member of the Bundestag for the Left Party, warns: “We are dealing here with the ingredients that we are currently observing everywhere in modern right-wing terrorists,” says Renner. “These aren’t people who just talk, even if there isn’t already a concrete plan that has been worked out here.”

Renner calls for more intensive monitoring of the reservists’ association. “There is virtually no parliamentary control, although it’s all tax money that flows into this association. Something urgently needs to be changed here by the ministry and parliament.”
