In the middle of Fürth – the famous Mr. Müller – Bavaria

According to Andy Warhol, everyone is famous for 15 minutes, but as with Horst Müller, very few people would have imagined it. And by the way, very few people want it either.

On December 21, 2006, Müller almost “fell the toothbrush out of his mouth” while listening to the radio. According to the sources, this is very well documented, Müller later confessed it to the SZ after he had stabilized to such an extent that he could tackle dental hygiene again without an accident.

What an idea: you walk into the bathroom. Turn on the radio, let’s see what’s top news. Has slept extensively before, without any special incidents – just like the day before. And the first thing to hear is your own name.

Well, “Müller” is not a conspicuous string of consonants that many others are hit with. And “Horst Müller” also occurs relatively often. But an economics officer by that name? There is only one in Fürth.

On the other hand: Doesn’t someone who holds an office for the CSU always have to be prepared to make a top report? A clear answer that in no way ignores the relevance of Fürth: nope.

So Müller stands there, cleaning and presumably sees in the mirror how his mouth stays open, with relevant consequences for the cleaning process. It is reported that he, Müller, is the key witness for the Stoiber spy affair. Good morning too!

It was like this: days before, Müller had actually received a call from a Stoiber man. Subject: the district administrator of Fürth, Gabi Pauli. Müller had perceived this as “listening to a level that is not mine”. And informed Pauli, confidentially of course: Something is brewing, Stoiberians are already calling here. Something like that.

Confidentiality? Wasn’t primarily important to Ms. Pauli now. She marched onto the CSU board and confronted Stoiber with the fact that he was being spied on. So the way led to the news radio.

For a short time, Müller was famous for it, involuntarily. Nevertheless, he never denied that Pauli was telling the truth, even if none of that was discussed. But Müller didn’t want to become anything in the CSU anyway, just to remain Fürth’s economic advisor. He has been for 23 years. Recently he was elected for another four years. Nothing came of it on the radio.
