A 15-year-old teenager finds himself between life and death after being beaten up by several people outside his college, in Viry-Châtillon, in Essonne, on the afternoon of Thursday April 4. The mayor of this city, Jean-Marie Vilain, denounced an outburst of“ultraviolence”.

The facts happened “around 4:20 p.m.” while the teenager, a third-year student at Les Sablons college, in a working-class district of Viry-Châtillon, was coming out of a music class, Mr. Vilain told AFP.
The teenager was “attacked while he was on his way to his home, between two stairwells”according to the councilor. “I don’t know if it was expected or intended but there was no particular tension leaving college at that time”underlined the elected official.
The schoolboy was in cardiorespiratory arrest when he was taken care of by the firefighters, said a police source. He was transported to Necker hospital in Paris in a state of absolute emergency, according to the mayor.
The events in Viry-Châtillon occurred forty-eight hours after the attack on a 13-year-old girl in front of a middle school in a working-class neighborhood of Montpellier, in Hérault. The girl was “seriously injured” according to the prosecution, which announced, Wednesday evening, his exit from the coma.
“This ultraviolence is becoming commonplace”, commented the mayor of Viry-Châtillon. According to the elected official, a psychological unit will be set up on Friday at Les Sablons college, in order to provide support “to students but also to teachers”.
